Can the Carolina Panthers extend their top stars?

Not only are the Carolina Panthers determining which potential targets to go after. But there are also some vital decisions looming regarding current roster members this spring.

Some conclusions are easier than other looking at the grand scheme of things. However, the Panthers must also prioritize keeping around their top contributors and ensure continuity during the first campaign with Frank Reich at the helm.

Players like D’Onta Foreman are more than deserving of a contract extension if the money suits all parties. The running back stepped into a leading role seamlessly after Carolina traded Christian McCaffrey to the San Francisco 49ers, which was exactly what the team needed during a period of great uncertainty.

Re-signing Foreman and moving forward with a committee backfield alongside Chuba Hubbard and Raheem Blackshear is a realistic option. Something that was highly beneficial for the Panthers last time around under interim head coach Steve Wilks.

Bradley Bozeman is another that should be extended as a matter of urgency. The center provided a significant upgrade when finally installed into the lineup, with his consistent blocking and exceptional leadership qualities standing out considerably over the second half of 2022.

Bozeman will be needed more than ever with Austin Corbett and Brady Christensen facing long roads back to fitness. Whether the Panthers can afford to give him the going rate is another matter.
