Carolina Panthers gave Scott Fitterer personnel control

Another glaring failure of David Tepper’s during his first head coaching cycle was giving Matt Rhule the final say on personnel decisions. According to revelations since the beleaguered figure was fired, he portrayed a stubborn presence during discussions that refused to budge on key matters that ended up holding the Carolina Panthers back.

This was one of many reasons why Tepper pulled the plug on Rhule. Something that was met with widespread approval among a fanbase that had more than enough of his incompetence in all areas associated with the franchise.

Rhule’s enforced departure has also seen a complete shift in approach by the Panthers. Tepper is returning to a more traditional method that centers on Frank Reich coaching and general manager Scott Fitterer having the leading say on roster moves.

Fitterer has been waiting for this opportunity since taking the job in 2021. His work with the Seattle Seahawks came in for significant praise and if he can bring this to his newfound responsibilities, the Panthers will be in a tremendous position.

Carolina’s roster is in pretty good shape all things considered. It’s just a case of Fitterer finding his franchise quarterback and doing whatever it takes to make the transition go smoothly.

The Panthers have legitimate NFL coaches to make this possible. So giving the roster keys to Fitterer could be the best thing that’s happened to the Panthers in a long time.
