Re-grading the Panthers 2021 NFL Draft class after Year No. 2
By Dean Jones
Tommy Tremble – Carolina Panthers TE
- No. 83 overall selection
Tommy Tremble was seen as a coup by the Carolina Panthers just inside the top 100 selections in 2021. The tight end had all the physical tools needed to become a complete presence at the position – someone that could finally fill the gaping void left by Greg Olsen at long last.
Tremble flashed moments of promise and his blocking is exceptional. But consistency has prevented the former Notre Dame star from becoming a consistent feature in the passing attack.
Draft Grade: C
What comes next for Tremble is uncertain. There could be a place for him in Frank Reich’s offense, but the Panthers must also consider finding a reliable pass-catching option to further strengthen their cause.
Brady Christensen – Carolina Panthers OL
- No. 70 overall selection
After some serious mismanagement of Brady Christensen as a rookie, the offensive lineman finally generated starting reps last season. His switch to the interior was encouraging, which formed a prolific left-sided partnership with Ikem Ekwonu that finally provided stability when needed most.
Christensen gave up just two sacks and conceded 11 penalties from 965 snaps in 2022. However, this encouraging step forward was tainted by a serious injury that requires significant rehabilitation this offseason.
Grade: B+
Once the penny finally dropped for Matt Rhule and his staff, Christensen flourished. If there are no further complications, the future is bright.
