Carolina Panthers could draft Devon Achane

  • Running Back | Texas A&M Aggies

D’Onta Foreman is out of contract and although hopes are high surrounding an extension, adding to the running back room regardless of whether this occurs or not is something the Carolina Panthers will contemplate this offseason.

Thomas Brown has a solid track record when it comes to coaching up the position. So he might want the chance to mold a talented prospect from the college ranks when it’s all said and done.

Assuming Foreman comes back and Chuba Hubbard makes the right adjustments entering Year 3 of his professional career, it’s a good spot for any prospect to learn as they go. Something that could lead the Panthers to Devon Achane on Day 2 or early on Day 3 depending on how things unfold.

Achane might not be the biggest running back that’s ever played. But his explosiveness and ability to make people miss could make him a sought-after prospect when push comes to shove.

The former Texas A&M stud boasts truly elite speed, which is his biggest asset. Once Achane gets the slightest opening, there isn’t much an opposing defense can do from preventing huge gains.

While Achane offers almost nothing from a blocking standpoint at 5-foot-9, his size shouldn’t put the Panthers or anyone else off. After he takes the NFL Scouting Combine by storm, the player’s stock will only rise further.
