Which teams could the Carolina Panthers legitimately target for a daring trade-up during the 2023 NFL Draft?

Even though the Carolina Panthers have a legitimate interest in veteran quarterback Derek Carr based on recent comments, it would still be a shock if they didn’t end up taking one of the talented signal-callers entering from the college ranks.

General manager Scott Fitterer has preached the benefits of drafting and developing throughout the offseason. The front office figure also added during his media availability at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine that this could be the year for a big move up the pecking order.

All options remain on the table right now as Carolina goes through its due diligence. But if there is a consensus agreement within the building, then surging from the No. 9 overall selection and into the higher echelons is the only way to guarantee their guy.

Much will depend on how the board plays out, but here are three legitimate teams that the Panthers could target for a potential draft trade-up.

Carolina Panthers could trade with the Seahawks

  • No. 5 overall selection

Scott Fitterer came from the Seattle Seahawks, so this connection alone could ensure a smooth negotiating process. Even if the Carolina Panthers would run the risk of losing their player of choice depending on what transpires in front of them.

Seattle is also a wildcard in terms of drafting a quarterback. Geno Smith played well last season – but he’s on the wrong side of 30 years old and looking for a lucrative deal – which could lead the Seahawks into drafting a replacement if terms cannot be reached.
