Bryce Young has enjoyed tremendous success against the Atlanta Falcons throughout his career. The Carolina Panthers were expecting the same trend to continue in Week 2.
And not for the first time this season, Young passed the test with flying colors.
Young came into the game brimming with confidence. The Panthers may not have been able to topple the Chicago Bears on opening weekend, but that wasn't on the signal-caller. He turned in a magnificent display, but the defense inexplicably coughed up 59 points on home turf.
The Panthers were thrilled with Young's overall command and comfort level. Brad Idzik's first game as Carolina's play-caller brought more aggressiveness, which seemed to suit the Alabama product. There are still some things to work on, but the No. 1 overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft is off to a good start.
Simply put, Young has owned the Falcons.
He's 4-1 against them, has put up significant numbers on their defense, and always seems to save his best for Carolina's bitter division rival. Atlanta was also starting Cooper Rush at quarterback, so this was an ideal chance for the Heisman Trophy winner to seize the initiative and get the Panthers up and running this season.
As it turned out, Young and the Panthers were in ruthless form, blowing out the Falcons with a devastating performance that gave fans a huge confidence boost.

The Carolina Panthers' offense felt more aggressive in Week 1. After a shaky start where finding a rhythm was difficult, Bryce Young didn't take long to find his groove.
Young is a tempo quarterback. He thrives on dictating the play and controlling the clock. And with the Falcons making so many mistakes offensively, there was a ruthless streak to seize the moment.
Attacking vertically became a core objective for the Panthers early on. Young pushed the football downfield, and when he got time in the pocket, he typically made things happen. The offensive line could have been better, but it did just enough for the 2023 first-rounder to make the desired impression.
There is complete trust between Young and offensive coordinator Brad Idzik. He's getting the freedom to be creative, and it's completely changed the dynamic.
The Falcons defense tried valiantly to contain Young. They tried to keep him in the pocket and smother him from the outside, but it only worked for so long. This is a signal-caller in superb form, and the speed of his wide receivers to get open at the second and third levels of the field led to several explosive plays.
Carolina's offensive changes are working. And Young's added aggressiveness is a big reason why.
