Bryce Young's first half
Bryce Young's first half didn't match how he's played so far this season. The Carolina Panthers looked out of sync, losing their trench battles, and the signal-caller suffered as a result.
Young's timing with his pass-catchers wasn't where it needed to be. Everything looked a little rushed, and the Panthers never looked in control offensively throughout the first half. Cleveland's defense deserves credit for that, but it was still surprising.
These are self-inflicted wounds from the Panthers. Whether Young was feeling the knock sustained early in the contest is debatable. But in the end, it was nowhere near good enough, and the Browns completely controlled the tempo on both sides of the football.
Just when things were looking up for Carolina, the first half represented a step back. And this was reflected in Young's stats throughout the opening two quarters in Cleveland.

The biggest takeaway was the lack of fluidity. Young and the Panthers have blazed a trail offensively this season, but the Browns were throwing things at them that coordinator Brad Idzik wasn't ready for.
And the quarterback's consistency suffered as a result.

Bryce Young has been among the league leaders in passing accuracy so far this season. This is a combination of the player's poise and the scheme devised by offensive coordinator Brad Idzik, but this all changed against the Browns.
Young wasn't getting the football where it needed to go with any of the same efficiency. He struggled to get into a groove, was wasteful when good opportunities presented themselves, and the signal-caller was out of sync with his weapons in the passing game.
It was very out of character for Young. He's typically made the correct decisions and has been composed over the last couple of seasons, but if he's not accurate and he's being put under pressure consistently, the cracks begin to show.
Obviously, the Browns' defense is good. They have quality linemen and edge rushers who can make things happen. They also have some exceptional cornerbacks capable of shutting things down, so nobody was expecting Young to have anything other than a difficult afternoon at the office.
What fans were expecting was efficiency and accuracy. For the most part, Young didn't meet expectations, and the signal-caller has a lot of work ahead with the Detroit Lions next up on Sunday Night Football.
