Deshaun Foster Released

deshaunfoster.jpgThe Charlotte Observer is reporting that Deshaun Foster has been released by the Carolina Panthers.  The team had been reportedly trying to trade the veteran running back but to no avail.

The roster move comes as little surprise really since the team could be saving as much as $4.75 million on this year’s salary cap with the release.

Foster’s six-year career with the Panthers has been frequently interrupted by injuries. He played his first full season without missing a game last year, recording a career-high 247 carries but a career low 3.5-yard average.

He has yet to rush for 900 yards in a season. His career total of 3,336 yards is a Panthers team record.

He has 10 career rushing touchdowns. He has run for 100 yards or more in seven of the 63 games in which he’s played.

I’m happy Deangelo gets the start next season. He averaged nearly twice as many YPC than Deshaun.

With a 5.0 average Williams deserves a good shot at the starting spot.  I’m waiting to see if an effort is made to bring in a guy like Turner from San Diego.

Yeah we definitely need a big bruiser back like Michael Turner. It will be like the Stephen Davis years of yore.

Turner might be good enough to make us forget Stephen Davis.  What a beautiful thing that would be!  A fan can dream, right?
