The Newest Panther: Derek Anderson

According the sources at ESPN.com and Panthers.com confirm that the Carolina Panthers have signed veteran QB Derek Anderson to a contract.

Anderson signed his contract, passed his physical and attended the latter part of today’s practice. Anderson will most likely be filling a mentor role with the team, but Rivera expects him to put up a fight to start.

Expect the Panthers to favor Clausen and Newton for the starter job, because Anderson hasn’t had great success in the NFL. Anderson should make a halfway decent mentor for our two QB’s.

I would have preferred Marc Bulger, as the guy has had a “successful career,” but hey I’m just a fan. So, take it as it is Panthers fans. Please pray that Anderson doesn’t win the #1 spot in practice.
