Is this Carolina Panthers Star a Future NASCAR Driver?

We all know that Thomas Davis takes care of business on the field – he is all over making tackles, breaking up passes and forcing disruption in the secondary.  His forte is on the field, being a leader and creating havoc for the opponent.

Once Davis finishes his football career though, what is next for him?  Maybe he will go into broadcasting, maybe he will become a coach for a pop warner team, or maybe he will join the coaching staff for the Panthers.

But, could Davis pursue a career in NASCAR?  That might seem a little out of the box and strange, however, we will get a preview of what the future might hold on May 24th at Charlotte Motor

Speedway, as Davis will be honorary pace car driver for the Coca-Cola 600.  Now although Davis will only be in the pace car leading the drivers around the track before the race begins, he will still be going around the track at a fast pace – a pace similar to how Davis plays on the field.

Davis joins the ranks of Panthers to participate in a NASCAR event at Charlotte Motor Speedway, as Luke Kuechly was honorary pace car driver at the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race last year.  I wonder if they are making a bet on who will go faster?!?

In all reality though, to picture NASCAR as a future career for Davis could be a stretch – Davis being 6’1″ and weighing 235 lbs. could be a little hard to get in and out of a NASCAR car, but never say never.  The main aspect of being able to succeed in any sport is drive and perseverance, both of which Davis always portrays.

Even if Davis does not become a NASCAR driver, we know we always will be able to count on him to succeed – whether that is on the field, or the track.
