Predicting the Panthers 2016 Starters & Backups
STRONG SAFETY
Starter: Kurt Coleman
A surprise performer from 2015, Kurt Coleman will shift over to strong safety in 2016 to accommodate Boston. Coleman is a versatile member of the secondary and while much better suited to play free safety has plenty of experience in this role as well. With six years of experience, Coleman becomes the veteran leader of this young group and will need to help them all along as they head into this season.
Backup: Trenton Robinson
The Panthers signed Trenton Robinson to provide the secondary and special teams with another experienced hand. The four year pro spent the last three seasons with Washington as a special teams contributor with eight total starts at safety. Behind Coleman he likely won’t see as much time on defense but should still prove to be a valuable role player with Carolina.
