RUNNING BACK

Starter: Jonathan Stewart

The Panthers are set at the running back position as Jonathan Stewart will get ready for his second year as the full-time starter and lead back. 2015 saw Stewart run for the second highest yardage total in his career with 989 – barely missing out on 1,000 yards. As an all-around solid back, the eight-year vet should once again be a focal point of the Carolina offense. But with his age increasing (29-years-old) and coming off another injury shortened year where he had a career high 242 carries, Stewart may need some help from his backups in 2016.

Backup: Cameron Artis-Payne

The backup who should emerge from the logjam behind Stewart and provide steady contributions is second-year pro, Cameron Artis-Payne. After flashing in limited time last season (45 carries, 183 yards, one touchdown), Artis-Payne came into the offseason ready to get to work and compete for the backup job. During Panthers’ OTAs and minicamp, he reportedly looked stronger and faster and should be in line to provide Stewart with relief and help out the Carolina offense.
