Memphis wide receiver Anthony Miller initially accepted a bid to participate in the Senior Bowl but suffered an injury during his collegiate bowl game and was recently scratched from competition. Although he won’t be in Mobile, he could draw interest from Carolina for his speed and ability to impact the passing game from the slot position.
Miller would have benefited from a productive week at the Senior Bowl and not getting an initial opportunity to work out for teams could effect his draft status. Although Miller is expected to get an invitation to the NFL Combine, the extent of his current injury hasn’t fully been disclosed.
Carolina could take another chance on adding an offensive weapon to Newton’s arsenal and some mock draft projections even have him going to the Panthers in the first-round.
"Miller played really well for Memphis, showing good route-running, quickness, good hands, and elusiveness after the catch. He had 92 receptions for 1,462 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2017. Miller came up huge to help Memphis upset UCLA and has created some positive buzz for himself in the scouting community. Miller is viewed as more of a second-day talent who could be a weapon as a slot receiver in the NFL."
