More from Cat Crave

Suffering an injury during the bowl game for Florida International, quarterback Alex McGough may not hear his name called during the NFL Draft but that doesn’t mean his hopes of playing in the league will be dashed.

Depending on the future for Anderson and his role with the Panthers, Hurney may not elect to spend a draft pick on another backup quarterback. If he doesn’t then Carolina may look to invite an undrafted free agent into camp and McGough could be the pick. His injury is going to limit his ability to gain exposure but he could be granted an opportunity by signing on with a team that puts him in a good position to succeed – the Panthers would do just that.

"McGough has some arm talent and is athletically gifted. In 2017, he completed 65 percent of his passes for 2,798 yards with 17 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Unfortunately, McGough broke his collarbone in the Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl. That injury prevented him from playing in an all-star game and could restrict his pre-draft workouts. McGough completed 58 percent of his passes in 2016 for 1,891 yards with 13 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. As a sophomore, he completed 64 percent of his passes for 2,722 yards with 21 touchdowns and eight interceptions."

The future of Anderson will obviously play into how Carolina elects to handle their quarterback position during the draft but at some point in the not too distant future, someone needs to be invested in to fill the role and be capable of producing if needed.
