After taking a visit Saturday, Jeremiah Sirles has signed with the Carolina Panthers…

In what has been a busy day for the Carolina Panthers, the team signed a player who came in for a visit last weekend. Guard Jeremiah Sirles signed a one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers on Friday.

The terms of the deal have not been released.

Sirles has played for the San Diego Chargers (2014) and the Minnesota Vikings (2015-present) in what has been an eventful career for him to this point. He played at the University of Nebraska and was named to the All-Big Ten second-team in 2012. He played in only two games for the Chargers in his lone season with them, starting one.

Minnesota is where he found his niche. His best season statistically came in 2016. That year, he was the beneficiary of ample playing time. He played in 14 games, starting 10 of them.

All things considered, he was a very solid player for the Vikings. The Vikings acquired him for a 2016 sixth-round draft pick in September 2015. When you factor that in what the team gave up to get him, it is safe to say he was a bargain.

Although his name may not be familiar to some, he is a tough and rugged player. Per the Panthers press release, Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer had nothing but positive things to say about Sirles.

"“Jeremiah, he’s a battler,” Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer told the Pioneer Press during the season. “He goes in there and fights and he figures out a way to get it done.”"

This sounds like exactly what the Carolina Panthers need. A bruiser who can come in and get the job done should fit nicely on the offensive line. It sounds like he is a resourceful and no excuses-type player. He will be able to come in and protect Cam Newton as well as create running lanes for the running backs.

This has the potential to be a low-risk high reward signing and especially on a one-year deal, Sirles is worth taking a flyer on.
