The sale of the Carolina Panthers to David Tepper is expected to be approved by NFL owners on Tuesday…

The sale of the Carolina Panthers to David Tepper is expected to be approved by the owners of the National Football League at Tuesday’s league meetings.

In order to get full approval from the owners, 24 of the 32 owners need to approve the sale. Tepper reached an agreement to purchase the franchise on Tuesday, with a winning bid of $ 2.2 billion. As Stephen Igoe of 247Sports notes, once the sale of the team is approved, Tepper will have to wait until July to fully take over as the owner of the team.

As Igoe notes, one of the reasons Tepper won the Panthers bid was the fact he had a good reputation within the league. South Carolina businessman Ben Navarro was very much in play and there were reports that his bid reached $2.6 billon.

However, since Tepper was already the owner of a National Football League team, his bid was easier to process. Building off that point, Navarro possessed no football background while Tepper did, something that also worked in the latter’s favor.

Tepper seems to have a solid foundation on what he wants to build the Carolina Panthers by. His groundwork seems to focus on both the short-term and long-term positions of the team, and that is a recipe for success.

One of the things to watch for is if Tepper will make his mark on the team right away once he takes over in July, or if he is more hands-on during the course of the season. Maybe he will be an owner who sits in the background and observes. Judging by his philosophies however, I do not think that will be the case.

It appears the regime of David Tepper has officially begun. This is something that Carolina Panthers fans should be very excited for as he should be able to continue a winning culture.
