Panthers: Former linebacker Jon Beason visits OTAs on Thursday
A former member of the Carolina Panthers visited OTAs on Thursday…
The Carolina Panthers have has their share of guests within the first couple of sessions of OTAs and Thursday was no different. Former Panthers middle linebacker Jon Beason was in the house Thursday, catching up with old friend and current linebacker Thomas Davis.
Beason played nine seasons in the National Football League. He was drafted in the first round (No. 25 overall) out of the University of Miami in 2007. He played seven seasons for the Panthers, appearing in three Pro Bowls (2008-2010.) In addition, he was a First-team All-Pro in 2008 and a Second-team All-Pro in 2009.

His best season came in the 2009 campaign. That year, he appeared in 16 games, starting all of them. He notched 11 tackles, three sacks, and returned three interceptions for 46 yards. In addition, he recorded seven pass deflections and a forced fumble.
In his Carolina Panthers career, one that spanned seven seasons, he appeared in 72 games, starting 71 of them. Tallying nine interceptions for 109 yards, he proved to be somewhat of a ballhawk throughout the course of his career. Notching 444 tackles and four sacks during his time with the Carolina Panthers, he had a nose for the football.
It is good to see guys like Troy Aikman and Jon Beason showing up to OTAs for the simple fact that it generates interest. There is already a bunch of buzz surrounding this Carolina Panthers team and having former Panthers come back and visit just adds to the excited vibe of training camp.

Unfortunately, it does not look like Beason is going to be suiting up, but it sure brings back memories of the old days. Beason was one of the best to ever don a Panthers uniform and it is good to see he has interest in coming back as a former member of the organization.
