The Carolina Panthers star received some well-deserved recognition.
Another day, another instance where perhaps the most dependable tight end in Carolina Panthers history gets recognized.
George Stockburger over at NFL Mocks put together a slideshow of the top tight ends in the game right now. The Carolina Panthers were well-represented with Greg Olsen making the list. The former Miami Hurricane came in at No. 5 on the list. Stockburger did a great job of putting an emphasis on how important Olsen truly is.
"Carolina is 13-2-1 since 2014 when Olsen records a touchdown, highlighting how important he’s been to their club.Olsen signed a two-year extension with Carolina in April, which should keep him out of the broadcast booth for the time being. Until then, he’s one of the best pass catchers in the league and a critical piece for the Panthers success going forward."
It seems like Olsen has been a dependable target for the Carolina Panthers forever. It is easy to forget sometimes how important he is to the offense and how important he has been to the organization during his time here. Even more so, it is also easy to forget that he was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the first round (No. 31 overall) in the 2007 NFL Draft.

He had had a great career, and the indications that he would be successful were there early. He was named to the Pro Football Writers Association’s All-Rookie Team in his first season. That year, he recorded 39 catches for 391 yards and two touchdowns.
His career has really taken off since being traded to the Carolina Panthers in July of 2011. Three Pro Bowl and two second-team All-Pro nods are just some of the incredible accolades he has achieved in his time with the Panthers. Olsen ranks No. 3 all-time in Carolina Panthers history with 5,575 receiving yards. His 33 touchdowns puts him fourth on the all-time list.
Olsen has been as sturdy as they come for the Carolina Panthers and I definitely agree with Stockburger that Olsen belongs among the top tight ends heading into the 2018 season.
