The next task for the Carolina Panthers is to find a president…

The Carolina Panthers almost have everything figured out. With new owner Davd Tepper officially introduced on Tuesday, now the next mission is to find a new team president.

As strange as it may sound, the Carolina Panthers have not had a team president since Danny Morrison resigned from the position in the 2017 offseason.  However, as Stephen Igoe of 247Sports notes, one of the things Tepper wants to do is fill that void.

"“Obviously, experience running a sports team is No. 1 in running the different types of experience like that, and also the obvious things like marketing, and development experience,” Tepper said. “There are a couple of people I’ve kind of pinned down on. I want them to be able to build a good team here, and also understand the philosophy of openness and a team environment that’s a family. We’re a family here and I want to make sure people here understand that. That family includes the football side and includes the business side. That’s the way I run my other business. The family is protected and the family feels safe in here.“I’m going to look forward to someone who has that vision.”"

The thing that stuck out to me with this quote, and the thing that seems to be one of the most important things in the Tepper regime is the family aspect. That is a very important characteristic that the new president should be mindful of. Tepper will need to make sure the new president buys into that family aspect and sense of openness that Tepper talked about Tuesday. With the Carolina Panthers most recent regime ending poorly, Tepper and Co. need to make sure they find a president who shares what they believe in.

Also, having a president who understands the business side of things is very important too. After all, he is the guy in charge of leading the team, and he wants to make sure to continue to do what is best for the team whether it be assisting in marketing, in-house development for the team etc. The biggest thing I would be focused on is making sure to hire a president that is not too money hungry and looks at the Carolina Panthers as more than just something they can brag to their friends about.

Whomever the candidates are, it will be interesting to see who Tepper’s final pick is. If they have traits like Tepper himself, then that will be a very good thing.
