The former Carolina Panthers wideout continues to trash the organization…

Whenever I write, I try to be as professional as possible. I try to remain neutral in all topics that I cover and not have strong opinions either way about a subject. Warning: I will not do that here.

Kelvin Benjamin unleashed a series of insults at Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers when speaking to The Athletic in an article published on Saturday. To put it mildly, he will not remember his time with the Carolina Panthers fondly. In particular, he made it known he was not a Cam Newton fan.

"“If you would’ve put me with any other quarterback, let’s be real, you know what I’m saying? Any other accurate quarterback like Rodgers or Eli Manning or Big Ben — anybody! — quarterbacks with knowledge, that know how to place a ball and give you a better chance to catch the ball. It just felt like I wasn’t in that position.”"

He apparently was not too fond of the organization either.

"“I mean, I felt like I would’ve been even more successful if … I don’t know, man … If I would’ve … Looking back on it, I should’ve just been drafted by somebody else,” Benjamin told The Athletic. “I should’ve never went to Carolina. Truly, I just think Carolina was bad for me. It was a bad fit from the get-go."

He then continued to go off on Twitter with a series of lengthy tweets, and you can read more here.

More from Cat Crave

Of course, Benjamin will not tell the whole side of the story. Among other things, his weight was an issue, and it remained a constant issue of concern for head coach Ron Rivera. He was traded by the Carolina Panthers to the Buffalo Bills for a pair of draft picks. One of them ended up being promising rookie Rashaan Gaulden. Chances are, he will be less of a headcase.

For one thing, to say that he was not in a good position to catch a ball is absurd. He was the recipient of 118 targets in 2016, second only to Greg Olsen’s 127. If anything this sounds petty. The fact that he said he was not in a good position to catch the ball is a flat-out lie. Although Newton’s accuracy may have not been the greatest, 118 targets should have given him plenty of opportunities.

I know the Carolina Panthers’ game with the Buffalo Bills is coming up, and I know he probably has been thinking about this for quite a while. With that being said, his comments are extremely petty. Cam Newton has been one of the better quarterbacks in the National Football League for quite some time. On top of that, the dissing of the Carolina Panthers’ organization seems to be something he takes great pride in, and he has not been afraid to speak his mind.

The fact of the matter is, he wore out his welcome in Carolina. Trading him away looks like another brilliant move by Mary Hurney. Benjamin continues to act childish and it isn’t a good look.. All things considered, the Carolina Panthers treated him pretty well while he was here, and they knew when to cut ties.
