Brendan Mahon

Brendan Mahon has had quite a ride. From having a solid career at Penn State to becoming an undrafted free agent to surviving cuts, he has been through a lot in a short time. He now will be thrown into the fire as he tries to sure up the offensive line.

I am surprised that he made the 40-man roster because of his inexperience. It’s not that he cannot play, or does not have talent. He put those thoughts to bed with how he performed throughout the course of training camp. He impressed to the least, and he received action during the preseason in an effort to add clarity to the offensive line. Now, he may get to show those talents in a National Football League game.

He will add a body to their offensive line at the very least. Although that sounds like a “no duh” statement, given the injuries to the line in the preseason, bodies will be very important. Especially for an offensive line that is getting older in some spots, having Mahon in the mix will surely help both parties. Mahon can learn from the veterans while the veterans will have a player that can give them a break with reps if need be. It will be interesting to see what he can do this season as he looks to prove himself.
