Carolina Panthers aim to keep home winning streak alive
The Carolina Panthers attempt to keep their home winning streak alive on Sunday.
Bank of America Stadium has been home to the Carolina Panthers since the team’s inception following one season at Clemson University during construction. Over time the crowds have shifted from numerous visiting fans to those clad in black and blue supporting the hometown team.
While a lot of this transition was the result of people having other NFL teams to root for with no franchise in the Carolinas, things are beginning to change as a new generation matures, growing up surrounded by Carolina Panthers football.
Quarterback Cam Newton has experienced a change in the culture surrounding support for the Panthers, especially since he entered the NFL as a rookie in the 2011 season. That change has led to improved performances at home and although the sample size is brief for 2018, Carolina hopes to continue their current winning streak by defeating the visiting New York Giants on Sunday.

The Panthers have only played two of their eight scheduled home games in 2018 as both the Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Bengals left Charlotte with a loss. The Giants are up next before consecutive road trips to Washington and Philadelphia.
Dating back to last year the Panthers have won seven straight after losing two home games to open the 2017 season. A brief run but one Newton and the Panthers hope to maintain in order to compete within a difficult division.
Having already suffered a road loss to Atlanta, the Panthers need to protect home field and return the favor when the Falcons visit Bank of America Stadium. Expecting a tight race for the divisional championship, Carolina needs to avoid being swept by any NFC South team this season.
Up first though, the New York Giants visit in Week 5 as the Panthers and new owner David Tepper make an attempt at pushing their current home winning streak to eight overall and three on the season.
