Eric Reid will have at least five tackles

This is a statistic I hope he does not have to reach as  if he records five tackles, it probably means the Giant running backs have reached the second level of the defense. However, I expect him to be an aggressive playmaker and at the very least come down from his position to make a play.

The good thing for a new guy starting out is that the Carolina Panthers defense has a strong enough defensive line to only allow the running backs to get to the first level. The Panthers rank No. 5 in the National Football League with 330 total rushing yards given up. With names like Kawaan Short, Dontari Poe, and Mario Addison, running backs will not get to where they need to go without a fight. This defensive line has shown they continue to be aggressive under Eric Washington and I would not expect that to change anytime soon.

In turn, this will make Reid’s life a bit easier. He still will have opportunities to make plays,  but I expect them to be limited in terms of tackles. That is a good thing. You do not want your safety to make a ton of tackles. Rather, you want him to spy on the quarterback and watch for throws coming towards the middle of the field.
