As you can tell, there haven’t been a ton of standout cornerbacks to play for the Panthers over the years. If there’s one that truly warrants recognition, though, it’s Chris Gamble.

Arguably the best cornerback to ever suit up for Carolina, Gamble made a name for himself as a reliable ballhawk in the Panthers secondary. Owning 27 career interceptions and 96 passes defended (both franchise records), he made life very difficult for quarterbacks looking to throw in his direction.

The crazy part is that Gamble never found his name on any Pro Bowl or All-Pro lists during his nine seasons with the Panthers. Although not an elite cornerback for his time, the Ohio State product was certainly among the top-10 in the business during those days. Apparently his big interception numbers just weren’t enough to woo voters.

Either way, Gamble is more than deserving of this spot on the list. He may not have earned as many accolades some of the other guys you’ve read about, but questioning his talent and impact in Charlotte would be a very bad decision.
