Throughout his time with the Panthers, Thomas Davis has always seemed to be overshadowed by a better inside linebacker. First it was Jon Beason, and now it’s Luke Kuechly. However, that shouldn’t take away from the fact that Davis is a Carolina legend at this point in his career.

One of the most reliable linebackers in the league, Davis has spent his entire career giving opposing offenses headaches. Although not exactly elite when it comes to athleticism, his well-rounded game, intelligence and knack for being in the right place at the right time have made him an integral piece of the Carolina defense.

Even as his career starts to wind down, he’s still played a prominent role in Carolina’s recent success. Shaq Thompson’s emergence has helped to limit his snaps at age 35, and the suspension he served to start the 2018 campaign also added to that. Regardless, now that he’s back, expect more big plays from the long-time Carolina linebacker.

To top it all off, Davis has been a superstar off the field. The 2014 recipient of the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, he is a shining example of NFL players who make an impact in their communities. Between his character and on-field talent, there’s no denying Davis belongs among the greatest Panthers to ever live.
