The longtime anchor of the Carolina Panthers offensive line, Ryan Kalil, retired following a 12-year career at football’s highest level. Largely responsible for holding together a unit decimated by injuries, the line needs to be a focal point moving forward for general manager Marty Hurney during the offseason.

Against a then-ranked No. 1 defensive front for the Baltimore Ravens, this Panthers unit had their best outing of the season but their efficiency tanked over the second half of the year. Allowing 12 sacks through the first eight games, Panthers quarterbacks went down 20 times (32 total) to end the season.

While injuries to starting tackles Matt Kalil and Daryl Williams allowed for Taylor Moton to receive significant playing time, the future remains in question. Kalil missed an entire season and Chris Clark, who played well, proved capable of filling the void at a fraction of the cost.

Entering 2018 there were many unanswered questions about Turner and the offense. Unfortunately, just as many now hover over the Panthers entering his second offseason as coordinator.
