Cam Newton named finalist for community service award
Cam Newton was named a finalist Friday.
It is no secret that the mainstream media does not think too highly of Cam Newton. An award the quarterback was nominated for on Friday may make them think otherwise. Newton was named a finalist for the Alan Page Community Award. Newton joins four other finalists in consideration for the award.

All of the finalists have been recognized as the Community MVP during the season. Newton received the distinction in Week 11.

Newton won the award for hosting “ Cam’s Thanksgiving Jam” which helped give Thanksgiving dinner to underprivileged families and their children. This was truly great to see and was a success at the time. This is just one of the many events that Newton holds throughout the season in the community. It is so great to see him be active and involved as he is no doubt one of the most popular athletes in the Carolinas. Many are drawn to him because of his swagger and style of play. Along with transcending the Carolina Panthers organization, Newton has also managed to make the community a better place as well.
Especially during the season, this was a great gesture as game weeks are always busy. It surely brought a smile to the families’ faces. After all, it must be pretty exciting to receive a Thanksgiving dinner from one of the most talented quarterbacks in the National Football League. It will be fun to see what other events the quarterback takes part in in 2019. They will certainly add to what is almost guaranteed to be an exciting season. Coming into 2019, this Panthers team certainly has a lot of potential. That was one of the reasons why last year’s result was so frustrating. They have all the talent to be successful and be an elite team in the National Football League.
One thing is for certain: Cam Newton is elite at community service. It is great to see him get out into the community and be recognized for it. He is certainly up against some stiff competition, and all finalists would certainly be worthy of the award.
