Marshall Newhouse

Given the fact that the Carolina Panthers had a relatively stable line statistically last season and that they may spend big money on Daryl Williams, it would not be a stretch to say that Marshall Newhouse will probably not be back with the Panthers in 2019.

Playing on a one-year contract last season, the Panthers did not use him until late in the season. He played in 11 games, starting in two of them. He committed two penalties during those games, one holding penalty and one offsides penalty. All things considered, he played decently as Carolina mixed and matched their lines trying to figure out the right combination.

Again, I don’t think he will be back because the Panthers at the very least would be smart to re-sign Chris Clark in addition to Williams. Clark definitely proved to be more valuable to the Panthers from a skill point of view. Especially on a one-year deal, Newhouse is the type of player that can be free to walk without any major repercussions. He certainly played well while he was in Charlotte. However, Carolina should look to go in a new direction as they have plenty more needs to fill and money to spend in more important places.
