Safety could be a position Hurney elects to target during free agency as Carolina has some promising pieces already in place. However, the release of Adams signals a change is in order as re-signing Eric Reid secured only one of the two starting roles.

Da’Norris Searcy began last year opposite Adams prior to his concussion woes, resulting in the need for Reid. Paring him back with the newcomer may be a way to inject some youth into the roster. In addition, the team seems high on Rashaan Gaulden but Mike Bell could compete with this group or potentially even at corner.

The Panthers also have interest in Virginia safety, Juan Thornhill, but an impressive combine performance has skyrocketed his draft value, even at a deep position. Likely gone before Carolina has an opportunity at him here, Bell is the current selection.
