The Carolina Panthers preseason schedule got a little more clear.

The times for the Carolina Panthers preseason games were announced, and as expected they are all night games. I’m excited about some of these games, as although they are only preseason, they feature some good opponents. Perhaps more importantly, the Carolina Panthers will undoubtedly be tested as they look to bounce back following a rough season last year.

Living in the New England area, I will be sure to attend the third preseason game of the year, as the Carolina Panthers face off against the New England Patriots. A couple of the Patriots rookies intrigue me. N’Keal Harry is one of them, and I am curious to see how former Alabama running back Damien Harris performs against the revamped Carolina Panthers defensive line. If anything, we will see the starters moreso in the third game, as that is commonplace around the National Football League. Thus, the secondary will face a great test as they are sure to see a lot of Tom Brady that evening.

For me, this preseason is going to be about the defense. Can they bounce back from last year? How will the new pieces be able to fit in under Eric Washington? How will the rookie Brian Burns do? He is a player that in particular I am excited to watch. His speed and athleticism should fit the Panthers defense quite well. The new pieces should be able to fit into the defense just fine, in addition to Burns, guys like Gerald McCoy and Christian Miller would  definitely fall under the category of new pieces.

Secondly, I am intrigued to see how quarterback Cam Newton will perform this preseason. That is, if he is healthy enough to throw. Assuming he is, this preseason may be more important to him than any preseason in his career. His health will determine how far the Panthers go this season. It is unfair to place such a burden on one player, but the fact of the matter is, he is the proverbial engine that makes the offense run. The times for each game are as follows.

Week One: @ Chicago Bears – August 8, 8:00 PM

Week Two: vs. Buffalo Bills – August 16, 7:00 PM

Week Three: @ New England Patriots – August 22, 7:30 PM

Week Four: vs. Pittsburgh Steelers – August 29, 7:00 PM

Next. Move to Rock Hill exciting for team. dark

I’m excited to get things underway, and I know many Carolina Panthers fans are too. The announcement of these times means we are one step closer to football. I can’t wait to see what this team can do. They have gotten the additional pieces they need to be successful, now they have to go out and execute. Of course, that is easier said than done but I truly believe this addition of the Carolina Panthers can do so. They will need to do everything they can to keep up in a crowded NFC South.
