Carolina Panthers (2-2) quarterback Cam Newton will miss his third straight game when the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-2) visit Bank of America Stadium on Sunday. Despite the loss, backup Kyle Allen has rallied the offense and played well enough to secure two consecutive wins in the process.

Bringing Carolina back from an 0-2 start, Allen benefited from a defense hitting on all cylinders even without a few stars of their own. Starting cornerback Donte Jackson missed last week and has been ruled out again, in addition to defensive tackle Kawann Short being placed on the Injured Reserve list rendering him ineligible for the remainder of the season.

Meeting for just the seventh time since both teams joined the NFL, the Panthers and Jaguars have split each of their six previous contests. The last game was an opening week victory for Carolina in 2015, setting the stage for a near perfect season.
