The Carolina Panthers made it official as they signed wide receiver Robby Anderson to their roster. Early expectations for the speedy wideout are good heading into 2020.

Free agent wide receiver Robby Anderson is ready to start a new chapter in his young career with the Carolina Panthers. The speedy wideout of the New York Jets entered free agency looking forward to a new opportunity on a team that is on the rise. Of course, the Panthers still have a lot of work to do in order to be contenders again but this could be a big move in the right direction.

It’s no secret that the Panthers offense can’t be all about running back Christian McCaffrey. As he comes off his best season yet, one better believe that opposing defenses will easily have an advantage thanks to last year’s film trying to stop the elusive playmaker. He’ll be seeing more defensive coverage and who knows, opposing defenses might even be successful in shutting him down.

Adding more weapons around McCaffrey will not only open things up offensively but would finally give the Panthers even further explosive talent around him to thrive. That’s exactly what Anderson brings to the table.

Robby Anderson brings more speed to Panthers offense

Anderson is a deep threat that at any time, can make a big play to turn the tides of a football game thanks to his incredible speed. He did it numerous times with the New York Jets but due to their lack of offensive talent, he was limited in what he could truly accomplish. With a new quarterback in Teddy Bridgewater most likely under center for the Panthers this upcoming season, it could be a dream scenario for Anderson to finally thrive on offense.

While the Panthers still need to add some better talent on their offensive line, this is still a greater team offensively than the Jets. It’s just a great situation for Anderson as he gets to play on a completely different team, reunites with his old Temple head coach in Matt Rhule, and has a golden opportunity to prove he can be an all-around No. 1 wide receiver.

Early expectations for Anderson are good since he’s an experienced player that is ready to step up and deliver with a clean slate in front of him. It’s always a great scenario when you’re a young player coming into a new organization that believes you’re going to be a difference-maker in rebuilding for better years ahead.

Anderson made the right choice leaving the Jets in free agency as he can easily develop into the best wide receiver on offense with so much going in his favor. He’s already worked briefly with Bridgewater back when he was on the Jets a few years ago as they already have a connection.

Compared to the Jets, Anderson will finally be on a team with a better supporting cast on offense which means all eyes won’t be on just him to make plays like before. On top of it all, as an undrafted rookie back in 2016, that chip on his shoulder to prove his naysayers wrong is still there.

Expect to see Anderson thrive and finally reach his true star potential with the Panthers. If everything falls into place and he stays healthy, Anderson will undoubtedly be a household name in the Tar Heel state. One that puts up incredible numbers and does his part to rebuild the Panthers into a contender again.
