Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Defensive Tackle. 4. North Carolina State. LarrellMurchison. player. 87

The Panthers, still committed to adding more talent to their defense, know they need to add a pass-rushing specialist to round things out. With the No. 113 pick, the Panthers select defensive tackle Larrell Murchison out of North Carolina State.

If it’s anything new head coach Matt Rhule wants in his locker room, it’s players who are coachable and ready to do whatever it takes to win. Such is the case here with Murchison as he’s known to be a very good pass rusher with a knack at pressuring opposing quarterbacks.

With Brown able to hold it down against the run, Murchison will be able to wreak havoc and make his presence known. This is the kind of young infusion the Panthers need to get players that are ready to overperform and be team players in the locker room.

The Panthers’ defense is already shaping up nicely as we’re about to hit the midway point. With two picks in Round 5, it looks like they want to add a player that specializes as an edge rusher as well as an offensive guard.

Linebacker. Utah. 87. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. BradleeAnae. 5. player

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a hidden gem here for the Panthers. With the No. 148 pick in this year’s draft, the Panthers select linebacker Bradlee Anae out of Utah. The 6-3, 265lb human tackling machine will end up being one heck of a pick for the Panthers.

Not only is Anae a true workhorse on the gridiron but he is an extremely versatile edge rusher that can play defensive end and linebacker effectively. In four years at Utah, Anae totaled 131 tackles, 29.5 sacks, and five forced fumbles. He made a name for himself by thriving in multiple defensive positions to keep opposing offenses on their toes.

The productivity the Panthers will get out of Anae will be surreal as he brings such a momentum that it’ll be contagious for the teammates around him. His situational awareness is through the roof as he has a motor that looks like it never stops.

With the right coaching and training, Anae will be an energetic defensive player that will bring excitement as he prepares to do what he does best. New defensive coordinator Phil Snow will have a field day enjoying everything Anae brings to the table when his number is called.
