Carolina Panthers Draft: Making the case for Cameron Clark
During the later rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft, it would be wise of the Carolina Panthers to add a new offensive lineman to the mix. Here’s making the case for Cameron Clark out of Charlotte.
The one thing that most playoff-contending teams have in common is their offensive lines. You’ll notice they’re filled with solid veterans and have a mix of younger talent behind them to work as a cohesive unit. Sure, they’ll have some substitutions here and there depending on offensive packages but the positional group as a whole will always deliver consistent results. This is an area where the Carolina Panthers need help, especially with how they can address it in the 2020 NFL Draft.
It’s no secret that the Panthers could use another high-quality offensive tackle but for the most part, it’s expected they will use the majority of their draft picks on defense. It’s not to say they should completely omit other areas on offense but towards the later rounds of this year’s draft, they should be able to land a good offensive tackle that can be developed for the future.
Ideally, when the Panthers are on the clock in Rounds 5-7, there is a very good chance that offensive tackle Cameron Clark out of Charlotte will still be available. For what it’s worth, he’s already had a virtual interview with the Panthers so there is some interest in what he could bring to the team.
Cameron Clark would be a good draft selection by the Carolina Panthers

At 6-4 and 308lbs, Clark was so good in college that he earned Offensive MVP of the Week back in 2017. He’s dedicated to his craft and is a classic overachiever. He has a plethora of starting experience and is an all-around team player, doing anything for his team when his number is called.
This is kind of locker room presence the Panthers need to keep adding to the team so they have a roster filled with players that exhibit character, integrity, and execution. Considering that Clark has leadership experience as well as being a team captain at Charlotte, means he’ll be ready for the task at hand to be a future leader on the team.
At this point in time, Clark is considered better in pass protection but needs some work when it comes to doing his part on rushing plays. With the proper coaching and training, he should be able to do well in this area but it’ll take some time for everything to come together. Clark is a workhorse so it’s only a matter of time for him to be versatile enough to handle everything in stride as an offensive tackle.
If the Panthers draft Clark, he could easily be a diamond in the rough in the later rounds of this year’s draft. The sign of a great general manager is one that can find players like him that can come right in and make an instant impact both on and off the field. Hopefully, general manager Marty Hurney can deliver a solid draft class since all eyes will be on his decisions to get the Panthers back on track over the next few years.
