The Panthers will take LB Kenneth Murray in the first round

The influence of Luke Kuechly on the Carolina Panthers’ defense cannot be underestimated. That should make finding a possible long-term replacement in the NFL Draft as the highest of priorities.

While taking Isaiah Simmons at No. 7 would bring a do-it-all talent to the linebacker room in Carolina, they may need to trade down to get more selections and that’s where Kenneth Murray comes into play.

The Oklahoma standout is a tackling machine that also has the capability of being a real difference-maker in coverage. He was the heart and soul of the Sooners’ defense and seems like an ideal fit for the Panthers.

There is nothing Murray cannot do on the field and he is widely regarded as one of the top prospects entering the league this year. This would be a win-win for the Panthers, who will get additional selections to improve their franchise and get a game-changing player at the second level.

It is hard to believe at least one NFL team hasn’t become enamored with Murray after watching his film and during the evaluation process. His tenacity, football IQ, and ability to inspire others around him are all valuable traits that are sure to make him an enticing proposition anywhere outside of the top-ten picks.

This represents an area of a significantly great need for the Panthers and one they would be foolish not to at least consider going forward.
