Kyle Allen, Thomas Davis & Ron Rivera – Week 15 (Washington Redskins)

A host of former players and coaching staff that spent time in Carolina will see their old team late on the Panthers schedule. The Washington Redskins now have Ron Rivera at the helm after he was fired earlier this year after a disappointing 5-11 season.

He will no doubt be keen to prove the doubters wrong when he comes up against his former team over the festive period. The game itself is not expected to matter too much in the grand scheme of things. But it will be the chance for Rivera to gain some revenge on a franchise that he feels somewhat aggrieved not to be a part of.

Another former Panthers they will come up against is quarterback Kyle Allen, who signed a one-year extension this offseason before he was traded to the Redskins for a fifth-round pick.

Allen started 2019 in some blistering form before tailing off dramatically as the season progressed. It remains to be seen whether the player will get any significant game time in Washington with the presence of former first-round selection Dwayne Haskins.

Thomas Davis will also come up against the team after enjoying a standout career with the Panthers. The first-round pick back in 2005 had a glittering spell in Carolina and is widely regarded as one of the team’s greatest ever players.

He eventually left the franchise last spring to sign a free-agent deal with the Los Angeles Chargers. His stay in LA was short-lived, with Davis opting to reunite with his former head coach in Washington.
