Carolina Panthers: 4 dream offseason trade targets in 2020

Carolina Panthers trade target: B.J. Hill – DT (New York Giants)
Defensive tackle is an area that has the potential to show a marked improvement in 2020. The Carolina Panthers drafted Derrick Brown and Bravvion Roy to boost their long-term options. And the roster will also benefit from the return of Kawann Short after the Pro Bowler ended 2019 on the injured reserve list with a torn rotator cuff.
That being said, there is plenty of speculation regarding Short’s future after the season. This is down in no small part to his exceptionally large salary, which makes him a prime candidate for release.
The Panthers might opt to wait and bring in a potential replacement next spring. But if the decision-makers want to make a move in this particular area now, then B.J. Hill of the New York Giants should be high on their shortlist.
Hill is an imposing figure on the line of scrimmage who is stout against the run. He saw the field on 44 percent of the Giants’ defensive snaps in 2019 on his way to 15 solo tackles and one sack.
The player burst onto the scene during his rookie season with 5.5 sacks. And the Giants are reportedly high on what Hill can bring to the organization forward. However, if the Panthers possibly allocate two draft picks in 2021 and 2022 in a bid to acquire the player, it would be a tempting proposition for the decision-makers at MetLife Stadium.
Hill doesn’t command any great financial implications over the next two seasons. And if he was acquired this offseason then he would form a formidable threesome with Brown and Short before the latter inevitably moves on.
