Potential contract extension with Carolina Panthers: Taylor Moton – OT

The offensive line has seemingly been a question mark surrounding the Carolina Panthers for nearly a decade. So there’s no doubt that they are looking to lock down players that can help them improve that position group.

While the team gave up 58 sacks last season, Taylor Moton wasn’t a major part of that, giving up five in his 16 starts.

Moton has pressure to perform for the Panthers after coming in as a second-round pick. But this is something he is more than living up to so far.

He has the size to be a force on the outside. And there is real hope Moton can make further strides heading into the final year of his deal.

If Moton can show more than just the flashes of quality play that he’s been able to put together so far, a Pro Bowl selection could very well be possible.

His most important attribute throughout his NFL career may be his durability. Moton has been on the field for nearly every snap during his last two seasons with the Panthers. And this a huge positive for the team.

Other offensive linemen including Trai Turner, Greg Little, and new left tackle Russell Okung all missed time in 2019 with injuries, while Moton remained on the field and was ultra-consistent.

The offensive line has taken repeated steps back in Carolina due to injury, which could allow Moton to become a mainstay of their blocking potential going forward. If he continues to perform well and stays on the field, there’s no reason to suspect that the talented tackle should be playing for another team in 2021.
