Carolina Panthers trade target: Dean Marlowe (S)

It has been an offseason of significant change throughout the secondary of the Carolina Panthers. This leaves the backed with a completely different look to it in 2020. And this is bound to come with some struggles against high powered offenses.

Dean Marlowe recently signed a one-year deal worth a little more than $1 million with the Buffalo Bills. But he isn’t expected to be a starter and he represents an intriguing option if the price is right.

The player is extremely physical and has all the traits one is looking for from a prominent locker room leader. This is something Carolina is relatively devoid of following a host of free-agent departures. So adding Marlowe would give the likes of Jeremy Chinn and Kenny Robinson another strong role model to lean on for advice.

The former standout at James Madison is no stranger to the Panthers, having played for the organization over a two-year period from 2015-16. Although he was a bit-part player during this time. Marlowe has refined his skills considerably since and he is someone definitely worth considering if they want to add more at safety going into training camp.

Marlowe attained a respectable 64.9 grade from Pro Football Focus in 2019 from his time on the field. And he would be a cheap option which is also welcome given Carolina’s salary cap constraints.
