Carolina Panthers Player No. 3: Dennis Daley (OL)

To say Dennis Daley went through his fair share of rookie struggles with the Carolina Panthers in 2019 would be something of an understatement. The offensive tackle was thrown to the wolves against some of the NFL’s most dominant pass-rushers. And he looked like a rabbit in the headlights for most of his time on the field.

Daley gave up seven sacks and four penalties from 686 snaps on his way to a 58.3 grade from Pro Football Focus. The Panthers are reportedly exploring the option to move the former sixth-round pick into one of the guard spots in 2020. This would take him out of the firing line on the edge and he possesses the right sort of frame one looks for in an interior lineman at the next level.

His transition to this position will not be helped by a lack of time on the field. And this could put his chances to start at serious risk. Carolina brought in John Miller and Michael Schofield in free agency. And their experience and know-how might give them the edge over Daley if there are any further reductions to the program.

There is little doubt that Daley has a fine skill set to call upon. But it remains to be seen how much damage has been done to his confidence after his rookie year.
