Carolina Panthers Player No. 2: John Miller (OL)

One of the biggest areas of concern for the Carolina Panthers in 2020 is its offensive line. They have made some bold decisions over the offseason period. And arguably the most head-scratching moves was trading Pro Bowl guard Trai Turner in exchanges for veteran left tackle Russell Okung.

This has left the offensive line interior with a patchwork unit that could prove to be their downfall. Chemistry is going to be a problem early on. And whether they can develop in the face of some outstanding defensive fronts during the campaign remains to be seen.

The Panthers identified John Miller as a player of considerable interest in free agency. And they managed to secure his services when the former Cincinnati Bengals signed a one-year, $4 million deal that is fully guaranteed.

Miller looks to be a good scheme fit for Carolina in the short-term. And if he performs well, then a longer financial commitment from the organization won’t be far behind.

The player allowed just two sacks from more 779 snaps in 2019. He is a stout presence in run or passing situations. And he could be a dark horse in terms of just how much he can bring to the Panthers next season and possibly beyond.
