Carolina Panthers No. 2: Strength of opponent

To say Russell Okung has got his hands full throughout the upcoming season would be something of an understatement. The left tackle is coming up against some exceptional pass-rushers on the schedule. And he is going to get exposed if he is not firing on all cylinders.

This is something that comes with the territory of being a successful left tackle in the NFL. The position dictates that those occupying it are relied upon to thwart the opposition’s primary threat getting to the quarterback. And given the lack of interior presence of the Carolina Panthers. This is going to be especially important to the likes of Teddy Bridgewater and All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey.

Okung has a wealth of experience that will stand him in good stead. However, he is a little long in the tooth now. And the prospect of coming up against players such as Khalil Mack, Joey Bosa, Von Miller, Danielle Hunter, and No. 2 overall pick Chase Young is not exactly going to fill him with joy.

The task awaiting him could not be any steeper. And Okung will need to be ready both physically and mentally for the challenges that lie ahead.
