Which free agents currently on the market could be available at a bargain price for the Carolina Panthers?

It has been an offseason of incredible change for the Carolina Panthers. The organization has been shaken to its core thanks to substantial player turnover and a new coaching staff who will be tasked with turning around their fortunes sooner rather than later.

Some big decisions have already been made with a view to becoming a contender in the future. But there are still some areas that the Carolina Panthers might wish to strengthen before their week one opener against the Las Vegas Raiders.

One suspects that this might happen either during training camp or shortly after. Matt Rhule and other decision-makers will want to see what they are working with for the first time on the field before coming to the conclusion that more reinforcements are needed. And there could also be some real bargains on the free-agent market if they choose to go in this particular direction.

There doesn’t appear to be much financial wiggle room for the Panthers heading into 2020. This is down to their dead cap figure which now stands at $41.11 million. And they have just $11.25 million in free space with only one of their draft picks currently signed.

At this stage of the offseason, those still on the free-agent scrapheap are just looking for an opportunity to make another go of things in the NFL. We have seen this recently with former Panthers’ quarterback Cam Newton, who signed with the New England Patriots for just $550,000 in guaranteed money.

Some will be in a stronger position than others. But there look to be some intriguing options for Carolina if they can move some money around elsewhere. Here are five options that the organization should consider.
