Which players from the Kansas City Chiefs might the Carolina Panthers might look to target via trade following Patrick Mahomes’ lucrative extension?

There have been changes aplenty across the Carolina Panthers this offseason. This is normally expected during the first year of a rebuild. And although the decision-makers have laid some solid foundations. More is going to be needed during the season and in the coming years to make them a contender once again.

The Panthers have plenty more salary-cap space to work with next season. This could be around $90 million if they make the necessary cuts. But the current roster will need to show that they are an attractive proposition for free agents with progressive performances on the field next season.

Another route Carolina could go down is the trade market. And there will be plenty of Kansas City Chiefs in the spotlight that may miss out on money thanks to the eye-watering deal given to star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Although the contract is the richest in North American sports history, it is team-friendly over the first two years. Things get far more complicated after that. And it remains to be seen whether the Chiefs’ front office can make the necessary sacrifices elsewhere to get some of their bigger names tied down to long-term deals.

That is going to be easier said than done. And there are going to be plenty of teams across the league that will be monitoring this situation extremely closely.

The Panthers will undoubtedly be one of these. Here are three players that the team might target from the Chiefs in the trade market.
