Panthers: 4 reasons to be optimistic ahead of training camp
By Dean Jones
Here are four reasons to be optimistic regarding the Carolina Panthers ahead of 2020 training camp.
The Carolina Panthers are just a short period away from finally getting together on the field once again. It has arguably been the most disruptive offseason period in recent memory. And it leaves NFL teams across the league facing a critical few weeks to ready themselves for the new campaign.
This has the potential to impact the Panthers more than most. Substantial changes have been made across the board with a view to getting them back into contention for honors sooner rather than later. And their lack of time together will not do their chances of immediate success any good at all.
The Panthers are not expected to be challenging for the NFC South crown in 2020. This is a tough division that boasts two Super Bowl contenders. So progress is probably more important than results at this stage of their rebuild under head coach Matt Rhule.
Although the team’s prospects look bleak heading into the season. There are plenty of reasons to be optimistic regarding the Panthers going forward. They parted ways with some franchise cornerstones during the free agency period. And this has left them with a vibrant, athletic unit that does have the potential to surprise.
Losing linebacker Luke Kuechly to retirement was a significant blow. His presence on defense would have been a tremendous asset for this young roster. But others will now get the chance to step up and fill the void.
It promises to be an exciting few months either way for the Panthers. And with more financial resources at their disposal in 2021, how they get on next season could be the catalyst for bigger and better things down the line.
Here are four reasons for Carolina’s fanbase to be optimistic ahead of a pivotal training camp for the organization.
