What do we expect former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton to say when he holds his first presser with the New England Patriots?

Former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton will speak with the media for the first time since officially landing on the New England Patriots on Thursday. All eyes will be in the 2015 NFL MVP for what he has to say. And judging by his social media posts since his acrimonious departure from the organization, it should be plenty.

Newton grew into an iconic figure during his time with the Carolina Panthers. He propelled the franchise into the limelight and was even the face of the NFL for a brief period. And although the way he left will leave a sour taste in the mouth for some time yet. This does not detract from what a phenomenal legacy he built.

The timing of Newton’s release left a lot to be desired. It left him with few starting options elsewhere. And this will be another keen sense of motivation for the player if he beats out Jarrett Stidham to the starting job in New England.

There is little doubt that Newton’s skills on the field are far superior to Stidham’s. He will need to get up to speed in a very short space of time before the Patriots take the field in Week 1. And having no preseason games to further familiarise himself with the system is another potential stumbling block for the player.

Carolina’s fanbase will wish nothing but the best for a player that some continue to idolize. He was a transcendent talent under center. And once the dust has settled regarding the parting of ways between player and organization, he will be welcomed back with open arms for some deserved recognition.

Here are three things we expected Newton to say during his first encounter with the media in New England later today.
