Which members of the Carolina Panthers head into the new season with boom or bust potential?

There is not a lot in the way of expectations surrounding the Carolina Panthers in 2020. But that does not mean there isn’t considerable pressure on certain roster members to perform.

The NFL is a cutthroat business for those who are not pulling their weight. This has been especially evident throughout an offseason of substantial change with the Carolina Panthers. And it proves in no uncertain terms that the decision-makers will be ruthless in their attempts to get the franchise contending once again.

Plenty of veteran players have departed the team in recent months. And this has left others with a chance to make their presence felt more consistently. It is going to be interesting to see just how they respond to this with no preseason games to familiarise themselves. But they will be given every chance by new head coach Matt Rhule during the first year of his rebuild.

This sort of pressure can go either way with a player depending on their character. Some thrive with increased responsibility. And others wilt in the face of stern pressure to hamper their chances of forging a successful career in the NFL.

The Panthers boast plenty of players with question marks heading into the season. But if they can reach or even exceed expectations. Then it is going to do their chances of surprising those that have written off their chances the world of good.

Here are five Panthers who go into the upcoming campaign with boom or bust potential.
