Which members of the Carolina Panthers who are considered backups could be pushing for more time on the field in 2020?

This season promises to be one with some significant opportunities for those on the fringes of the Carolina Panthers. Each member of the roster is working with a clean slate thanks to the arrival of a brand-new coaching staff. And this could see some increased time on the field for those who impress in the coming weeks at training camp.

There will not be any time for hopefuls to impress during a canceled preseason schedule. This leaves the onus on them to make every team drill count at camp. And new head coach Matt Rhule is keen to give everyone a shot at making their presence felt with the Carolina Panthers.

It is a smart move from the former Baylor man. But it could come with some downside. Players who show out at camp doesn’t necessarily guarantee success when they get on the field. And there are some throughout history that did not show anything at practice but turned it on when it mattered most.

What players fall into these categories is something Rhule and his coaching staff will need to figure out. They are going into 2020 relatively blind in this regard. And this is one of the primary reasons why expectations are low for the Panthers, at least initially.

A number of individuals could be set for a more prominent role in Carolina. Here are three Panthers that could see their respective roles increase considerably in 2020.
