What are some of the big things we learned from Week 4 of training camp with the Carolina Panthers?

Week 4 of training camp with the Carolina Panthers is now in the books. Players and coaching staff alike have made a strong adjustment to team drills in unfamiliar circumstances. And the high standard of performance has been encouraging ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Whether this will make a smooth transition into an actual in-game environment is another matter entirely. Building chemistry during camp is an essential part of the preparation process. But with no preseason games on the schedule as concerns surrounding COVID-19 remain, it is going to be a case of trial by fire for the Carolina Panthers against some outstanding teams on the schedule.

New head coach Matt Rhule knew the task awaiting him when he arrived with the organization. The former Baylor man is virtually starting from scratch thanks to a series of key departures. And the shock retirement of perennial All-Pro linebacker Luke Kuechly is another hurdle the team has to overcome next season.

Having little expectations on their shoulders is a positive thing at this stage. They are in year one of what appears to be a complete rebuild. So any momentum the Panthers can generate in 2020 is going to stand them in extremely good stead going forward.

If everything clicks into place right away, then the team could emerge as a potential surprise package. Whether this is possible following an unprecedented period of disruption is unclear and we will not fully know what to expect until Carolina crosses the white lines for the first time.

Here are five things we learned from Week 4 of training camp over the past few days.
