Teddy Bridgewater’s 4-year journey from leg injury to Panthers starter
By Dean Jones
Teddy Bridgewater’s incredible four-year journey from a career-threatening injury to the Carolina Panthers is nothing short of inspirational.
Today marks the fourth anniversary of Teddy Bridgewater’s life completely changing forever. The highly touted quarterback suffered the most serious of leg injuries that jeopardized his career and his long-term health. But to say the player fought back exceptionally in the face of adversity is a considerable understatement.
Bridgewater has worked exceptionally hard to get another starting opportunity. The Carolina Panthers placed a tremendous amount of faith in him by choosing the former first-round pick as the man to replace Cam Newton. While this comes with its own set of pressure, compared to the challenges the signal-caller has faced over the past four years, it is minuscule.
This is one of the more inspiring stories in the NFL currently. Few gave Bridgewater any hope of taking another snap following such a significant injury. And the Louisville product deserves an endless amount of credit for even getting himself into this position ahead of the 2020 season.
The journey will be the furthest thing from Bridgewater’s mind when he takes the field for the Panthers’ Week 1 clash against the Las Vegas Raiders in a fortnight’s time. Getting a prominent No. 1 job was just the player’s first objective. Now he must make the most out of it with some dynamic weapons to call upon in Carolina.
We took an in-depth look at Bridgewater’s incredible four-year period that eventually landed him on the Panthers.
